Dear President Johnson-Sirleaf:
Congratulations on becoming the first woman president in all of Africa! From your resume it looks as though you would have been a strong candidate to replace our recently retired economist Alan Greenspan, but I’m sure the citizens of Liberia are glad you are leading them instead.
I heard you were visiting Washington, and just read your address to Congress. With family in Georgia and two degrees from colleges in the United States, you have obviously spent a fair amount of time here. Perhaps your presence in your new position will plant a seed in the minds of the American people that we could have a woman president. Even Laura Bush thinks we’re ready!
You are undoubtedly an inspiration to the people of Liberia and beyond. Good luck in your presidency and all of your endeavors.
Truly,
Liz Mann
